Title 1
What is Title 1?
Supplemental federal funds to help meet the educational needs of low-achieving students in high-poverty schools. Title I schools deliver supplemental services through a comprehensive school-wide plan under the School wide Program (SWP) model. All students may benefit from the additional services based upon the identified needs described in the plan, but the services must help students most at risk. Title I funding is based entirely on academic achievement.

LAUSD Parent and Family Engagement Policy
The Los Angeles Unified School District approved a new LAUSD Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy in June of 2018, which was developed with the meaningful consultation of Title I parents and family members from each Region. The policy is summarized below. A hard copy of the entire policy may be requested from the main office.

El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Los Ángeles aprobó una nueva Política Título I de LAUSD para la Involucración de los Padres y la Familia en junio de 2018 la cual fue desarrollada con consulta significativa por parte de los padres y familiares de Título I de cada Distrito Local. Title I School-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy 2024-2025 and School-Parent Compact Parent Input Survey
This policy and compact was adopted by Hamilton High School on November 14, 2024 and was in effect for the entire school year. This policy can be amended each year when ELAC and SSC meet to review the policy. It was made available to all parents and to the local community on November 15, 2024 by accessing the school website or getting a paper copy in the main office. This policy is a companion document to the School Plan for Student Achievement. If there are concerns about the School Plan for Student Achievement, parents can submit their concerns to Jennifer Baxter. The school principal will submit the comments with the School Plan to the Federal and State Education Programs Office for submission to the state.

Póliza Escolar de Título I para la Participación de los Padres y las Familias para el 2024-2025 y Encuesta de opinión de los Padres
La preparatoria de Hamilton High adoptó esta póliza y este contrato el 14 de noviembre de 2024 y estará en efecto durante todo el año escolar. School Site Council Overview
The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are generally elected by their peers. School Site Council (SSC) California Education Code 65000 requires Title I schools to establish a School Site Council (SSC) as the decision-making council for all programs funded through the Consolidated Application (ConApp). Title 1 Annual Meeting
The purpose of Title I is to provide all children a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps. Schools receiving these supplemental federal funds are required to provide services that raise the academic achievement level of K through 12th grade participants. Additional support may be provided through professional development and health and guidance services. Parents of children being served have the opportunity to participate in the design and implementation of the program through activities such as serving on the school site council; developing parental involvement policies and compacts; attending parent-teacher conferences, parent training and literacy workshops; participating as classroom volunteers, tutors, and aides, etc. Please join us for our annual meeting. El propósito del Título I es brindar a todos los niños una oportunidad significativa de recibir una educación justa, equitativa y de alta calidad, y cerrar las brechas de rendimiento educativo. Las escuelas que reciben estos fondos federales suplementarios deben brindar servicios que eleven el nivel de rendimiento académico de los participantes desde la guardería hasta el grado 12. Coordinator's Statement
My name is Mia Young, and I am the Title 1 Coordinator here at Hamilton High School. Previously, I was an Instructional Coach dedicated to supporting teachers and their ability to address all students' needs through culturally relevant teaching strategies. Before the pandemic, I spent 17 years in the classroom teaching English, 6 here at Hamilton High. I recently completed LAUSD’s Aspiring Assistant Principals Program after earning my Master's in Education in 2022. My educational experience spans 20 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where I was also a student from kindergarten to 12th grade.
