Associated Student Body
What is ASB?
The Associated Student Body, also known as ASB, is a team of academically driven, talented, and motivated student leaders who represent the student body at Hamilton High School. Our purpose is to serve as a communication bridge between our students and administrators, creating the best school culture. We are in charge of hosting student events, such as Club Rush, Homecoming, and UCLA blood drives, among others, to ensure an enjoyable high school experience. Our top priorities are to ensure voices are heard and to have a positive school culture overall. ASB is the unification of our students, our administrators, and our school community.
Why does ASB raise funds?
California law allows students in California's public schools to raise money and make decisions about how they will spend this money. Student organizations that are established to raise and spend money on behalf of the student body are called Associated Student Body organizations, or ASBs, which are made up of students across all grade levels. The funds that are raised and spent by student organizations and ASB are called "ASB funds" or student body funds. ASB events and the management of ASB funds present students with opportunities not only to raise and spend money but also to budget funds, plan activities, and acquire leadership skills while making contributions to their school and fellow students. ASB funds are used for student activities and expenses that the students decide on. Many student activities include the annual Homecoming game and dance, lunchtime events, assemblies, incentives for student contests, staffing for school events, and concession stands at athletic games.
Are Parent Booster Clubs associated with ASB?
No. Booster clubs are a separate entity from ASB. ASB funds are used for students ONLY. Under Publication 465, Booster Clubs must meet with ASB and agree upon a shared percentage of profits each school year. This applies to funds raised on school property.
